Why Am I Putting this Site Together?
Not that anyone cares... well i guess you do... you are reading this after all... I mean, I hope I’m not jumping to any conclusions...I feel like this may already be a bad start... *deep breath... Here it goes:
Besides feeling the existential need to find purpose and hopefully gain the approval of strangers there are 3 main reasons:
- First, I hate posting unsolicited opinions on social media. It’s unbelievably annoying when all I’m trying to do is avoid my responsibilities and then BAM! People posting their angry rants with, at best, questionable grammar that I frankly didn’t want in my life. I decided to make a space for me to write and rant all-the-while giving people the ability to completely ignore me if they choose.
- Secondly, my friends are smarter and more interesting than me. I want to create a constructive outlet for people to organize their thoughts and present them in an entertaining way. I hate seeing talented people being relegated to “10 Things Everybody Hates About Pretzels” articles which helps no one and is bearable by the minutest of margins. Or other friends that never get the chance to share their stories properly because they either don’t have the time or don’t have the resources. People have amazing stories and I don’t want them to be lost in the shuffle of social media.
- Third, I’m too honest and I talk too much. I am a self diagnosed oversharer (anyone who’s heard my opinion on shitting yourself would have to agree). Even if nobody ever stumbles onto this website or reads my posts I’ll be able to mitigate the unquenchable need to spout verbal diarrhea to all my friends in person by writing here.
This whole age of social media has made it to easy to distort the truth or package lies as some quasi news story. As the name would imply, this website is not full of fact checked or peer-reviewed studies on topics. Experts are not weighing in on timely events. So in the spirit of full disclosure, this whole site is Barely Researched.
