Steve Lacy- Some (Nov 2016)
While not familiar with his parent group The Internet, I started listening to Lacy on the suggestion of Pierre, who I usually talk to about music at the gym. I always love when people turn me on to new, good, original stuff. With such a small body of work it’s hard to really deep dive into his stuff, what he does have is awesome. The only description I could give is like a funky Frank Ocean but only kind of. This is SUPER funky, with a great bassline. It also has an unrefined feel that makes it feel like you’re in on the secret that is Steve Lacy. He’s a star in the making and will be only more prominent in music as the years go on. Keep an eye on this guy for sure.

Frank Walker feat. Sterling Fox- Angel Falls (Apr 2017)
An ode to that White Snake song, the first lines of this song really threw me off. It becomes its own song shortly after so don’t worry. The production is good but the vocals have this cool sound that is reminiscent of My Chemical Romance vocals back in the day. Overall I like the song but don’t think the production in and of itself would make this song great. The addition of the vocals make it very compelling and a nice listen. I don’t know if this will gain tons of popularity but is a good song nonetheless.

Linkin Park feat. Kiiara- Heavy (Nicky Romero remix) (Apr 2017)
Well I guess Linkin Park is back...? I didn’t know that they were still making music, but here they are. I’m not super impressed with their first showing to be honest. It’s not exactly terrible but it doesn’t look like they’re going to returning to the level they were five or six years ago. They were everywhere for like ten years. They had one of the most impressive musical runs, putting out an insane amount of hits all the while staying relatively true to their sound. Everybody has their run and it seems like Linkin Park’s run is over.

G-Eazy & Carnage - Guala (Apr 2017)
Guala, Guala, not really sure what that means but I like it. Carnage is a prominent producer who uses hip hop beats in electronic music better than anyone. As rapper he needs to get his cardio up a bit, it sounds like he’s out of breath the whole song and its a little bit distracting. I’m not a huge fan of his music but I don’t hate him because he seems like a really cool dude. It’s quite the predicament. This song’s a nice ride with heavy base, a little piano, and lyrics that don’t really make sense. Basically, popular music nowadays. If it’s enjoyable who am I to judge.

Illenium & Kerli- Sound of Walking Away (Apr 2017)
Another Illenium song for you all. He’s been killing it lately with “Feel Good” and multiple remixes and this song is firmly in that lane. A very interesting song that has unique vocals and fun sounds, the string part in the beginning is Blink-182-esque which hits that nostalgia a bit. My only problem with the song is how close it sounds to the “Don’t Let Me Down” remix. They’re both really cool songs but a little too similar for my taste. That’s really my only gripe with this song, it’s pretty good other than that.
