Zeds Dead & Illenium- Where the Wild Things Are (July 2017)

While Illenium has been featured quite frequently I think this might be the first time Zeds Dead is making an appearance. A talented EDM duo that has put out consistently good songs for years teamed up with a more recent breakout star to make this trap heavy hit. With heavy hitting, crunchy metallic beats this song will raise your energy before settling back down for a smooth soothing chorus. Really well balanced though the whole “where the wild things are” is a little played out, I don’t get the obsession with it, it wasn’t even that good of a book. Childhood nostalgia I guess...

Kygo & Ellie Goulding- First Time (Gryffin Remix) (July 2017)

While I was well aware of this song coming out a few months ago I felt like it was going to get enough attention that it didn’t need my two sense. As both ellie Goulding and Kygo have been quiet compared to their previous level this song made tons of sense to make. But like you’ve probably realized if I like an original song I always appreciate a remix. This one maintains the tradition Kygo sound while speeding it up and adding a different energy than the original. Solid remix and I might like it better than the original for what it’s worth.

RL Grime Feat. Miguel- Stay for It (July 2017)

Miguel, who had that giant hit in Lotus Flower Bomb comes out of nowhere with a great song with RL Grime. Never would have guess this would work but the trap heavy RL Grime style seems to match up with the R&B vocals really well. Much like the first song on this list the transition from smooth chorus to hard hitting beats make it really well balanced and not overwhelming in either genre.

Party Favor & NJOMZA feat. Fki 1st- Caskets (July 2017)

Party Favor is making the list for the second time and have another great song. Seeing them perform at Ultra and being a fan of “WaWa” I was very interested in seeing how they would follow up their new found success. What they have here is a solid progressive house track that I’d put up against most of the top EDM songs from the past year or so. Original sounds that I’ve come to expect from Party Favor and vocal reminiscent of “Big Girls Don’t Cry” which while insanely overplayed at the time is not a bad song. I’m glad they can follow up their success with another solid song. Props.

R3hab & Felix Cartel- Killing Time (Aug 2017)

Possibly the most frequently featured artist on this list, R3hab comes back will a chill, tropical house tune that’s perfect for the summer. A low key mellow song that doesn’t get boring but doesn’t make you want to run through a brick wall like some of R3hab’s previous stuff. While not a masterpiece I really enjoy this one and if I ever need to just chill this song will be in the rotations for sure.
